The transitional Bachelor of Science in Public Administration program prepares students for employment in government and nonprofit organizations that require various administrative skills including federal, state and local government bodies and other public sector agencies. Courses focus on building skills around the topics of budgeting, personnel administration, financial administration, organizational management, public service leadership, laws, political institutions, government institutions, ethics, and global awareness. This program also grants students the opportunity to select the generic program structure or areas of concentration in Criminal Justice or Fire Service Administration.

Admission Requirements
In order to be eligible for registration, students must be at least 18 years old and possess all of the following:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Valid Florida Driver’s License or Valid Florida State ID
- Associates of Science Degree from an accredited institution (60 Credits or more).
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 calculated over all college coursework (cumulative GPA as calculated by the receiving institution)
- All Official Post-Secondary Transcripts: courses itemized in transcript must evidence a minimum grade of C or greater to transfer credits into the Public Administration program
Program Objectives
The curriculum of the transitional BS in Public Administration program is based on the standards of the Network of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) and emphasizes the following public service values: accountability, transparency, respect for citizen privacy, ethical actions and values, and participatory processes that encourage citizen engagement.
As the basis for the curriculum, the program adheres to the following five competencies related to the public service values:
- The ability to lead and manage in public governance;
- The ability to participate in and contribute to the policy process;
- The ability to analyze, synthesize, think critically, solve problems, and make decisions;
- The ability to articulate and apply a public service perspective;
- The ability to communicate and interact productively with a diverse and changing workforce and citizenry.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
All students must accomplish the following in order to be considered for graduation:
- Each Program Course must be passed with a minimum grade of “C” – 70%.
- Achieve a minimum Program GPA of 2.0
- Maintain an overall average of a 70%.
