Statement of Institutional Commitment — National Call to Action
October 6, 2026
American Medical Academy acknowledges the Commission for Independent Education’s Call to Action and supports its commitment to accountability, academic integrity, student success, and the workforce needs of Florida.
AMA maintains fair and transparent admissions practices based on published program requirements, student qualifications, and merit, without unlawful preferences or discrimination. We are committed to providing students with an educational environment where different perspectives and ideas can be expressed and discussed respectfully. At the same time, AMA maintains clear policies against harassment, disruption of instruction, and conduct that interferes with the rights of others or the normal operation of the institution.
Our curriculum is guided by professional standards, evidence-based practices, and the competencies required for successful practice in healthcare and emergency medical services. We value intellectual diversity and do not require adherence to a particular political or ideological viewpoint in our curriculum or employment practices. Faculty are selected based on their education, professional qualifications, experience, and ability to effectively prepare students for their professions.
AMA recognizes the importance of affordability, responsible cost management, and transparency regarding tuition and other educational expenses. We strive to provide students with clear information about the cost of their education, financial obligations, and career opportunities. We closely monitor measurable student outcomes, including completion, licensure and certification performance, and employment preparation, with the goal of ensuring that students receive an education that prepares them to enter the workforce and responsibly manage any educational debt they incur.
Academic rigor remains an important part of our responsibility to our students and the professions they will enter. Grades must reflect a student’s actual performance and demonstrated competency, and AMA does not support grade inflation or the lowering of academic standards. As artificial intelligence becomes more widely available, we will continue to ensure that its use does not replace independent student work, honest assessment, or the demonstration of required knowledge and clinical competencies.
AMA is also committed to protecting the integrity of its academic programs and institutional operations from improper foreign influence. The Academy will continue to comply with applicable federal and state requirements concerning foreign relationships, funding, and institutional activities and will take appropriate measures to safeguard the independence and integrity of its educational programs.
Finally, AMA remains committed to educational opportunities for American students and to preparing graduates who can meet the healthcare and emergency medical workforce needs of Florida. As a Florida institution, we take seriously our responsibility to prepare qualified, competent professionals who are ready to enter the workforce and serve the communities in which they live and work.
American Medical Academy appreciates the Commission’s leadership and acknowledges the importance of these principles in maintaining the quality, integrity, and value of postsecondary education in Florida.
